1st Hole
The enchanting Deep River Golf Club layout initiates with a dogleg right par five that measures upwards of 536 yards. Here you might have the feeling that someone is watching your every move on this hole. That would be "The Keeper of the Green" - a male figure carved out of a tree stump by members Peter Purvis and Gerry Sims. Many groups have stood on the first tee waiting for the gentleman on the left to hit his ball. Recently abducted by a group of students, he has been replaced in his rightful place. Strong drives will get you into position to go for the green in two. |

2nd Hole
In contrast with the first hole, the second is a short par four requiring a well-placed shot off the tee. Golfers playing off the forward red tees, face a burly par thee of some 231 yards. The green is protected with a bunker on the left and right. |

3rd Hole
The going gets tough on the third hole, a sturdy par four measuring anywhere from 298 to 433 yards. A deceiving, slight dogleg to the right requires an accurate placement of the ball off the tee. Hit the ball to the right of the green and you can find yourself in a deep bunker. Hit the ball to the back of the green and you will be facing a green sloping to the hole. |

4th Hole
The forth hole is a short, gentle downhill par three measuring from 101 to 185 yards. Water is found on this hole to the left and to the rear of the green. "Katie" - another figurine, watches your every shot on this hole. |

5th Hole
The course begins to work it back uphill on #5, a short par four measuring 240 yards and a long par four measuring 423 yards that requires a strong tee shot to aid the vertical climb. If your tee shot is short of the 150 yard mark, you will have a blind shot to the green. |

6th Hole
Another par four hole greets you at #6, where you face a yardage varied between 314 and 423 yards. Bite off too much to the right on your tee shot and you will be chipping out of trouble with your next shot. The elevated tee and raised green, combined with the right dogleg and out of bounds on the left side, makes this one of the tougher holes on the course. This is also the hole seen as you drive into Deep River along Highway 17. |

7th Hole
The final par three on the layout can be found at hole #7 and can be a stern test of almost 220 yards from the back tee deck. It begins a three-hole trio that provides a strong finish, the hallmark of a Thompson design. |

8th Hole
Once you survive the seventh hole, #8 awaits with its hidden bunkers and ample length. Stretching more than 420 yards, it is a good par four that requires quality golf shots. A shot over the back of this green can easily lead to over par numbers. As you stand on the back tee and look all the way down the long fairway at the flag stick, it is amazing that a player can put a ball measuring 1.68 inches in diameter into a hole measuring 4.25 inches in diameter in three shots. |

9th Hole
A birdie opportunity awaits on the final hole. This par five offers up a small putting surface that can be hard to reach in two but makes for a much easier target with a precise third-shot approach. |
